Legal Document Assistance | Court Filing & Service of Documents |
In many cases, especially ones that are uncontested, you may be able to represent yourself.*
The difference between a paralegal/legal document assistant and an attorney is that a paralegal/legal document assistant
did not go to law school, cannot give legal advise, and cannot go to court with you.
However, a paralegal/legal document assistant can help you prepare the divorce papers. He or she will
usually file the divorce paperwork for you, and will help you get your spouse served.
If you are able to come to an agreement regarding your children and property you may be able to have your divorce
completed without having to appear in court.
Let our office assist you in avoiding the common
pitfalls of having incomplete or incorrectly filled out forms. We will make sure that all important details and information
are on all of your forms. It is our policy to have all documents done correctly the first time and if we made any mistakes,
we will ALWAYS fix it for free.
*Although we can not provide you with any type of legal advice, we strongly suggest you do contact an attorney
if there are issues regarding abuse. ONLY an attorney can help you with providing the legal advice needed to protect yourself
and your children.
Don't have the time to wait in line at the courthouse
to file your matter? Most document preparation services we provide include free filing with the court (a $25 value).
Did you file your matter in court and don't know the next step? California law says your spouse must be told that you have started
the legal process for a divorce, paternity action, etc. The court CAN NOT make any orders or judgments unless and until your spouse
has been properly "served."
Our office, upon request, can provide service of your legal documents. Prices are dependent on the location and number of attempts
needed to serve your spouse. Contact our office for additional information.
NOTE: YOU CAN'T BE THE SERVER FOR YOUR OWN CASE.
Tired of not having all of your legal documents when you need them?
Do you have your legal documents but they are all in disorder or pages missing?
Our office is currently in the process of being able to provide you access to electronic copies of your legal documents prepared by our office
(certain restrictions apply).
We anticipate this service to be available shortly and when it becomes available, you will be able to securely access your documents on our web servers whenever you want and have the piece of mind knowing that if you misplace a document or need another copy, you will be able to quickly obtain one here.
In addition, we look forward to providing you with an on-line account to view invoices, monthly newsletters, and other information that may assist you in your legal matter.
